History

The IMANI All Star Program, LLC  was established July 31, 2011,  by Carl Jenkins and Tonya Couch-Jenkins, Ed.D.   The program was founded as an outgrowth of their personal commitment to parent engagement, the community (village), professional expertise, knowledge and an understanding of the importance of Supplemental Education (Gordon, E. W., Bridglall, B.L., Meroe, A.S., Eds.., 2005).

According to Gordon, et al. (2005), Supplemental Education is characterized as exposure as a necessary means to influence sustaining academic achievement.  The exposure refers to experiences to enhance the learning for children in non-traditional ways outside of the school day, whether at home and/or in the community.
